Review - Neotel

What’s it about?

Neotel is a telecommunications company aimed at being the official competition to Telkom. They have currently launched a consumer product called NeoConnect which is an all-in-one solution offering Internet, Telephone and SMS which is carried over a CDMA2000 wireless system. There are different packages ranging from R99 to R999pm. The NeoConnect Lite packages are fairly slow with download speeds peaking at 156Kbps, however the NeoConnect Prime packages are relatively fast with download speeds peaking at 2.5Mbps. All packages include free on-net minutes and sms’s, however those are not entirely useful unless you know other people with Neotel. Another suite of packages that Neotel are offering are the NeoFlex packages. These packages are aimed at those who just want an internet connection and wish to share it on a network.

Pros

The general direction of Neotel is to bring effective competition in the communications market, which can only bring good things. Their offerings are very good value for money and they appear to have a package to suit anyone’s needs.

Cons

They are still very new in the market, and as such problems are to be expected from time to time, but everyone had to start somewhere!

Final Thought

There is no doubt that Neotel is going to be the best thing to happen to communications in South Africa. Their products are of a superior quality, they have placed considerable emphasis on giving the customer what they want (including an uncapped line). It is our hope, that they soar to new heights!
